KGN goes critical at South Somerset

Well, i've gone and done it. I have arranged  an introductory game of KGN at the club for this Thursday. I have done my US and have enough Germans to field opponents, and have 2 players set to play with me as umpire/moderator. I will have the camera with me, and pics will follow.

Dutch KGN 1940

I have got hold of some Dutch 1940 figures, and after raising the subject on the Guild forum, have found a number of people who kind of agree with me about the ' rightness ' of playing Dutch. I got a  lot of help with  suitable figures for them as well. I will try and get them painted up and put up pics.

Christian Nubian latest shock

In an attempt to go 3 and 0 against Hundred Years War English, the Nubes went down in flames. A very good game, and it was on a 5ft table, so I can qualify the loss, but they suffered by the fact that the English ran across the table as fast as they could to engage the Nubians. Well done the english.

Martin has arranged another rematch- but with New Kingdom Egyptian, and I will be tweeking the list slightly to change the Bedouin Lancers for Nubian Light spear horse.

I have been playing with the Nubes, and surprisingly have got 2 striking wins against Martin playing with 100 years war english. The Nubes have a second rematch this coming thursday, and are just playing it cool.

The Nubes would have been my choice at PAW, but thats life. They are really quite fun to play, and seem to be remarkably resistant to my ineptitude. I really feel I have found my mojo again, my new Thracians.

I have also now got a Late War German KGN platoon finished so can use at last.

PAW 2012

What a great weekend.

My 28mm Ottomans played really well, and I played excrebly.My best game in results was against Aztecs in the first round. They went on to win. I had a marginal losing draw. It went downhill from there, with each game getting fewer points than the last. Finally I tanked at the fourth game, with a slight improvement.

I didn't take the Janisseries as they cost too much in 28mm, they need to be protected, you need 8 per battlegroup, and they are not battleline troops though tend to be used that way. The Turks took armoured Serbs, as they didn't need the heavy armour, 4 groups of LF and drilled cav.

On the whole I think I played better than I have for a long while, a year to be exact when I went to Paw 2011.

So roll on 2013!!

PAW 2012

I will be going to PAW 2012 at Plymouth in 2 weeks time. It's a really nice, sociable, well mannered and pleasant event, and I can't say enough good things about the event or the people involved in it, a big thankyou to Andy Clark.

I was going to take my 15mm FOG Christian Nubian machine gun corps, but received an email asking if I could go in the 25mm FOG instead. Roll out the Ottoman Turks.Yes, I'm the guy responsible for lowering the stats on them on the BHGS website!  My record is excreble, but damn, do they look nice on the table. To quote one of my favourite film directors - " you can never have enough flags"

I normally run the Ottomans with Serb Allies, but keep thinking about running Serbs with Ottomans. either way they are pretty funky.

I don't know how its going to work out on the table, but I think its fairly balanced. I originally took vet infantry, but couldn't spread the force out to cover the table. Pretty solid infantry with their bazooka's as they have a range of 8, so the shermans can concentrate on attacking the enemy infantry, and there is recce to tease out troops, and to fly around a flank. The 81mm mortars should give some cover/suppression for the infantry to use in attack.
