Teeth of the Hydra - Modern Wargaming set in 80's Africa

Teeth of the Hydra is the name for my modern wargaming campaign set in 1980's Africa. The teeth of the hydra were reputed to cause disorder and disruption, formenting disputes and unintended  consequences to actions. If anywhere could be the place where they were sown, this would surely be the location.
It is placed in 1980's sub saharan Africa, with the melting pot of post colonial powers, liberation politics and military adventurism. In short, a place that will offer a range of wargaming options.
I came across a really interesting and thoughtful article on another blog, about imagi-nations. Fictional countries used to construct wargaming worlds.

It will start small, and hopefully grow in time, with more detail and nuance. If it all works then so be it, but I don't want to spend time and effort boring people on all sorts of background if nothing comes of it.

So far, I have 3 sets of antagonists. Local forces, Cuban 'advisors', Brit Marines!, and some Rhodesian Light Infantry to come in the near future. I'll be using a modified Battle Group system, one which was used in the Gyros Teller games, and I will post up the details.

Modelwise, a Mil8 has been done whilst waiting for the figures to arrive, and missing a Guild painting drive for 2014. A Mil24 is waiting in the wings for a free weekend.
